Personal Experience with Adoption vs Compassionate Adoption Advocate
Every child is a gift, and each child deserves to have loving, supportive parents. Attorney
J. Joseph Weber understands this first-hand; he is an adoptive parent who has been through the adoption process. He is also a Christian attorney who will support your values and stand by your side throughout the adoption process. With years of personal experience and more than 29 years of professional experience, you can trust Mr. Weber to take the right steps in your adoption case.
Stepparent Adoption in Kansas
We help stepparents take the important step to officially become “dads” or “moms” to the children that complete their families. To adopt your spouse’s child, you must meet certain requirements:
Time requirement: You must be married to your spouse for a set amount of time. This period varies from county to county. In Sedgwick County, for example, you and your spouse must be married for one year before you can adopt his or her child.
Termination of the other parent’s parental rights: the child’s other parent must consent to terminate their parental rights or the court must terminate their parental rights. This means that he or she will not be obligated to take care of the child (pay child support), and will lose all rights to child custody and child visitation.
You Deserve Dedicated Support

Our law firm handles third-party adoptions, including adoptions involving older children and children who have been adopted multiple times. We also help grandparents who would like to adopt the grandchildren they love and support.
We will review your adoption agreement to make sure it protects your legal rights and the rights of your child. If you need to petition for a legal name change or set up a
guardianship for your child, we can help.
